they had a thing about sheds ...
and they had The Vortex. Which is kind of a shed
hats were kind of a thing
Asiq* Nargile played a captivating set on Saturday at the Barn. I got a video of one of her pieces, and found a recording of a set she played at Tusk festival 2014, and a performance she recorded in Tbilisi, Georgia in the same year. The day before her Supernormal gig she had recorded a session for BBC Radio 3's Late Junction, to be broadcast by Max Reinhart on September 7th, in which she collaborates with Appalachian musicians and a Mongolian throat singer (as I gleaned from talking to Late Junction producer, the friendly Alannah Chance, who was at the Barn and who later posted a brief clip from the session).
* "Asiq" is an honorary title for a musician following this musical tradition, maybe like "Jali" in West African music. Her name is Nargile Mehtiyeva.
